History
Hot Eye Photography is located in downtown Spartanburg, SC. The studio is housed in a historic warehouse that was built in the early 1950’s. I was intrigued when a gentlemen stopped by one day and explained that his grandfather had built the building. He recollected that they sold cleaning supplies and that railroad lines ran both in front and back of the building. This allowed train box cars to unload on the docks. He remembered unloading boxes of powdered soap from the box cars and how hot the box cars and the building would be. At that time there was no air conditioning in the building! The adjacent building was a beer distribution warehouse that would also have bottled beer delivered by rail.
Since 2006, the building has been a photography studio. We have over 4,700 square feet of eclectic space with a large Cyc wall, dressing rooms, make-up room, meeting spaces, front office, and objects of art that give our place soul, a pool table, phone booth, VW van, mid-century furniture, fine art and music! We are always listening to good music! Although, the rail days are in the past, the studio has two 10 feet garage doors for loading in and out large items that need to be photographed. This unique space is home to equally unique and diverse photo shoots of fashion, business headshots, portraits, products, as well as motion and video work. Come see us and be a part of the creative process.
